The biology student Oliver Bruck chances upon precious film material that the diver, ocean biologist, filmmaker, and human ethologist Hans Hass, who died in 2013, actually wanted to dispose of. Bruck cleverly weaves the nearly unbelievable recordings with voices from Hass's former companions. The facets of an unconventional personality are gradually revealed and Hass's way of dealing with the cinematic apparatus is reflected on. A cinematic portrait that contemplates filmmaking itself.
