Against a backdrop of lynching and Jim Crow segregation in the U.S., Colonel Allensworth and 14 black families charter the town of Allensworth in Tulare County, California. Then one of the former pioneers starts a movement to reconstruct the town. Today it has become a rallying point for African Americans nationwide.
