Based on Leland Hickman's poem The Hidden, this animated short film is a visual interpretation of the energetic, sprawling and engaging poem that moved and excited post-beat poets across America. Originally published in 1980, The Hidden is an erotic, haunting, and sincere autobiographical avant-garde poem that deals with life, death, and the transformation of our deepest losses into an affirmative equilibrium of the benign gifts of conscious enlightenment. The short film is accompanied by a restored recording of the first time Leland Hickman read the poem for a crowd at the famous literary center Beyond Baroque, In Venice California in 1981.
