Silent film was never watched in silence. This short student documentary describes the evolution of fotoplayers, live sound effects, pianos, wurlitzer organs, small bands and full orchestras that accompanied the screening of silent films from 1895-1927. Through expert interviews, vintage footage, rare photos and re-enactments the viewer is shown how sound was fully part of the live theater experience no matter the venue size.
