This belated heirs-gathering-for-the-reading-of-a-will horror comedy is a thoroughly fun romp, even though it frequently feels like a picture produced about forty years out of its time. Indeed, with an Abbott and Costello-inspired routine packed in for good measure during one of the gorilla scenes ("Go - go - go - "; "Heck, I don't want to go!"), the only signs that this is a 1980s production at all come from elements such as the axe-wielding slasher who is on the loose in the old dark house, and the presence of a kung fu maniac modeled vaguely on Rocky from THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975).
