//History// Ever since the British left Sri Lanka, racial tensions existed between majority Sinhalese and minority Tamils. Tamils seldom took to armed retaliation to the riots of 1957, 58 and 77. All they did was to seek refuge in safe havens, like India, risking money & their lives. However, the burning of Jaffna Tamil library, in the presence of the Sri Lankan Police and Army, bringing down years of Tamil history to ashes during the 1981 riots, proved to be an inflection point. //Story// The riot-torn island was unlivable for some Tamils but inseparable for some! The COMMONER'S STUCK IN A COUNTRY THAT WAS PREGNANT WITH WAR, were torn between these priorities. Come let's spend a couple of days in 1981, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
