Eugene discovers that his girlfriend, a girl with Down's Syndrome named Anna, is being used to make porno tapes. Her pedophilic father gets her to act childish and dress in children's clothing, hides a camera in her bedroom and films her having sex with the random strange men he brings home for her. Although she doesn't seem to realize that this is wrong and that if she didn't want to do it they are technically raping her, she does know what sex is and is more experienced than Eugene. That being said, Eugene and Anna are never shown having sex together although they do sleep in the same bed and Eugene is shirtless while Anna is in a bra and underwear.

Anna dances with Eugene with no pants on.

Eugene tells a Japanese story about a man and a woman who have sex under a rainbow.

Elvis Grimes, a former British punk rocker who Eugene meets, dresses in women's clothing (he is a closeted transvestite and it is implied that his own mother kicked him out of the house at a young age). He makes lewd remarks about women. Eugene asks him if he has "had it cut off". Elvis teaches Eugene how to slow-dance.

A mentally challenged boy at a group home tells Eugene that he is a "fag" who is probably having "buttsex" with another boy.

Some sexual phrases are frequently used, like "dick", "buttsex", "sex", "make love", "fag", "ass" and "fucking".

This film is NOT a children's film although it often gets mistaken for one. There are several violent and bloody scenes:

An elderly lady is shot through the chest. She dies and later on Eugene sits with her as blood drips down from her corpse onto the front porch.

A box of ashes (Eugene's mom) is held by Eugene in a funeral home.

Two men chase and threaten to kill Eugene because he witnessed their robbery.

Elvis tells Eugene about famous artist Vincent Van Gogh cutting his own ear off.

Eugene accidentally causes a car accident that severely injures Anna. She and Eugene are both seen with blood on their faces.

Two boys steal money from Eugene and call him "retarded".

A boy has his lunch money stolen by two bullies.

Anna's father violently tries to pry Anna's bedroom door open.

A boy calls Eugene a "fag" and tries to steal his Jell-O.

It is implied that Elvis' mother kicked him out of the house when he was a kid because he was a punk rocker and a transvestite.

A shotgun is featured on screen.

Some lewd sexual phrases are used: "stinky fingers", "caress her ass", "make love" and others.

Use of the word "retard/retarded" in a derogatory manner.

"Fag", "buttsex", "fuck", "fuck off", "dick", "asshole", "bloody", "sex", "ass", "shit", "hell" are all said on multiple occasions.

Characters drink beer frequently.

A woman chain-smokes (and is dying of lung cancer).

Elvis Grimes can be a little creepy and off-putting at first. He makes disgusting comments about picking up women, and menaces Eugene (thinking Eugene is a bicycle thief).

This film is very harrowing and disturbing at times, not only in the way in which Eugene is treated as "stupid" or "he doesn't even understand what you're saying" because he has Down's Syndrome, but also because of the way in which Anna's stepfather believes that his daughter is too stupid to eventually figure out that she has been raped by multiple men. There is a very sad murder scene of a sweet old lady (see 'Violence & Gore'). Many of the characters appear to be mentally flawed in some way, such as the dowser man (an alcoholic), Elvis Grimes (depression) and Anna's father (a pedophile). One of the running themes in the film is that everyone is imperfect in some way or other, which it portrays in ways which may bother or disturb some viewers.
