In 1773 a young woman in colonial Philadelphia breaks her pacifist Quaker community ties when she falls in love with a Patriot. Their romance is kept aflame by their involvement in the dynamic development of the birth of a new nation, until tragedy strikes. Will she continue to believe in the cause that causes such great suffering? In her dark despair the top in command calls on her to use her skill to create a banner that might rally the spirits of a frazzled army that's losing sight of the American Dream.
