A Fighting Chance on Long Island (2013)

Newsday spent 14 months following the fighters and trainers of the Westbury boxing gym. We went to their homes, their jobs, their training sessions and their fights. What we learned was that the boxing gym was perhaps society's last melting point. From 16-year-old female Golden Gloves champ Dilsia Bonilla, to 28-year-old ex-convict Frederick Samuels, to 77-year-old dentist Vincent Savino, the fighters of Westbury have forged a unique family bond.
