In 2010, the city of Halifax estimated there were 40,000 - 90,000 feral and stray cats living within the city limits. Many rescuers feel there are well over 100,000 within the municipality, and possibly over 500,000 throughout the province. Throughout Nova Scotia there are rescuers dedicating their lives to advocating, rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for these forgotten cats.
