Right at the beginning, we see a picture of Lloyd with a bloody scratch on his nose. In the wedding reception in the beginning, Lloyd gets into an altercation with his father, resulting in the breaking of his nose.

When Lloyd visits Jerry at his house, Jerry offers him bourbon and then beer.

There are some intense arguments that do get resolved later
