The movie is a metaphor for racism, and there are slurs and propaganda used (Butterfly fairies are reptiles who breathe fire, Crystal fairies eat Butterfly wings), and Talayla the tour guide models Mariposa's room on these stereotypes.

Gwyllion takes Catania hostage and almost kills her in a flashback. Mariposa and Catania fall off a roof while fighting Gwyllion.
