Les lieux de Denis (2012)

The film is a wandering through places that evoke memories of Denis, the director's son, who abruptly passed away: houses, neighborhoods, schools, countries where he lived, learned, worked or traveled, from Paris to Reunion Island, from Tunisia to the Washington DC area where the director lives and where he remembers his son in parts of the city that have become connected to him through a process of association of ideas. How do places speak to us? How are places transformed by a dramatic event? What traces are left to be discovered? A meditation about memory, loss, and the transcendence of loss through artistic creation, the film is also a commentary on the passing of time and its effect on the environment.
