The American West in the 1870s. A European settler, Jon Jensen (Mads Mikkelsen), has just welcomed his wife and son to the country when they are kidnapped and murdered. He takes revenge on the murderers, only to discover that one was the brother of a local land baron, Henry Delarue. Delarue runs the local town with a brutal hand. Now he wants vengeance on the man who killed his brother and the local townspeople are too scared of him to stand up to him. Jon is fighting more than just the local thugs, he is facing the entire town.

A man, near dead or dead, is shown fairly close up being dragged by a horse.

For a western, the violence is mild to moderate, nothing overly brutal. The violence is not bloody like some movies today, it is digitally added, like a dark circle appears where the person is shot. Only a couple of characters have a puddle of blood appear after they are shot.

A young boy has a knife held tightly against his throat, blood is seen on the knife.

In a dark scene, a man is shot in the head. Blood can briefly be seen, but it is shown from a distance and the darkness covers anything graphic.

Another innocent man is shot in the head, blood is seen. He is shot again when he falls dead. A puddle of blood is seen collecting by his head.

A horse is shot, it is unclear if the horse died.

A man is beaten by multiple men, blood is lightly seen on his face.

A man is punched in the gut, we hear the man beaten offscreen. We later see the man with blood on his face. He is then punched in the face, more blood is seen on his face.

After having sex with a man, a woman turns her face to expose how she now has a black eye and bloody nose. It is unclear if the sex was consensual.

A dead body is seen.

A man has his throat slit, but no blood is shown.

Two men are shot, no blood is seen.

A dead man's body is seen dragging on the ground from a rope tied to a horse.

We see multiple men dead, some men have a small pool of blood by their bodies.

A woman is slapped in the face, blood is seen on her lip.

A man is hit in the head by the butt end of a gun, blood is seen where he was hit.

A dead body is seen inside a coffin, the man was shot in the head previously, blood is seen from the wound.

The ending consists of a classic western shootout, multiple men are shot multiple times, most resulting with multiple bloody wounds.

A man is stabbed in the eye, it isn't seen directly, but we see blood on the knife while the man pulls away. The man is then stabbed.

A man is burned alive.
