Inspired by real events Capital Punishment is a short film segment of a Georgia native African-American male by the name of Troy Davis who is believed to be convicted of the wrongful murder of Officer Mark MacPhail August 19th, 1989. Since his conviction in August 1991 Davis was ordered to lethal injection which sparked one of the most controversial death penalties in American History. Over a course of twenty years Troy Davis had his case appealed and gained national status in the hearts of human rights groups, celebrities, and the general public. Davis was officially executed after three failed attempts on September 21, 2011.
