Characterization of the tragedy that befell Bohumil Hanc and Vaclav Vrbata and the circumstances of the 50 km Race of the Ski Association held in the Czech Kingdom. The tragedy happened during the 8th Annual Race in 1913 as the first organized race of simple speed from start to finish. Part of the story of this tragedy are also the actions of those people who gave their lives and with their attitude in this race they leave behind three beautiful properties of the "golden boys": friendship, heroism and sacrifice. The cause of the tragedy was a national and personal ambition the ski racer, but the Ski Association and the Czech Tourist Club has made a hero of Hanc and off Vrbata his selfless savior but has forgotten the other participants. There were more heroes, regardless of their nationality. The behavior of both Germans, Rath and Bartel and their self-sacrifice in saving Hanc and risking their own lives are proof that it was not unrelenting nationalism, but a sports rivalry motivated sometimes more, sometimes less as an ethnic dispute.
