It's an animal movie, and the scent-driven sexual urge is described frankly, but the physical encounter is shown as romping and tumbling without any graphic penetration or thrusting.

Several times the wolves are shown carrying or eating their prey. An animal can be seen lying on its side with some of its flesh chewed away. The wolves themselves are shot at by humans, sometimes successfully (in which case we see a little blood on their fur).

Besides the scenes of animal violence in nature, there is also a Bambi-like threat from humans, who start a dangerous fire as well as shooting two of the wolves dead-- the female lead and one of her children.
