Zal and Rudabeh (2010)

Zal and Rudabeh, nominated for 8 Lester Horton Awards, conceived and directed by multiple award winning choreographer, Anna Djanbazian, divulges a timeless tale of forbidden romance, war, triumph and transcendental power of love. Based on an epic story by the 10th century Persian poet, Ferdowsi's "Shah-Nameh": The Book of Kings. The ballet of Zal and Rudabeh is inspired by the skills of vibrant Persian story telling (Naqqali), showcases this historical fable, weaved with dance, live percussion, singing and story telling in both Persian and English.
