SANCTUARY'S DAUGHTER is the story of 17-year-old Anabella, a US citizen, and her mother Yolanda, an undocumented Guatemalan immigrant. When Yolanda receives a final deportation order, she and Anabella face a terrifying choice--and make an inspired decision to seek safety in perhaps the only place where immigration authorities dare not arrest them. Going public with their story, they fight a courageous battle to bring attention to the millions of 'mixed' American families -- those that include both American citizens, and undocumented immigrants. Over four years, Anabella grows from a shy, withdrawn teenager to a confident woman, willing to travel alone to Washington DC, to seek answers for her mother's immigration struggle.
