1881 Montana Territory. The Smith Family traverses the unsettled frontier in their covered wagon. Pioneers chasing the sun in hopes of a better life out west. At the mercy of this untamed land tragic events force the youngest member of the family, a deaf/mute boy named Epp to fend for himself. That is until he crosses paths with a renegade Indian girl. A mute herself and without a tribe, she is on the run from local authorities for horse rustling and murder. Begrudgingly stuck together in the girls hideout a friendship begins to blossom, one that is based on empathy, necessity and a common understanding. But that friendship will be short lived in this land where lawlessness wins out over integrity and revenge trumps redemption.
