Sand, Sun, Oil + Gas, a 28-minute environmental documentary, presents the history of offshore oil drilling along the Santa Barbara Channel. Those oil operations became disastrous in 1969 when a massive oil spill occurred that devastated wildlife, tourism and fishing for years. The public was furious and the event inspired major federal and state environmental legislation and a moratorium on new drilling that has been maintained since. The documentary also discusses the treat posed by proposed liquified natural gas (LNG) terminals in Ventura County.
