Connell York, 84 year old, seasoned piano tuner reminisces about a remarkable WWII encounter permeated with music. In 1945, on the Tokyo outskirts, he and his 11th airborne troop encountered Japanese school children singing a doleful song. York had embedded its melody in his memory along with opening verses, but never knew it's name. The mystery of this tune's identity was solved by me after painstaking research. As the interviewer, off camera, I lead York through the story to its resolution and heart-warming conclusion. York sings the song with me at the Steinway piano after he chokes up describing what impact the discovery had on him decades past his wartime service. It's an emotion packed interview with inserted footage and photos.
