The residents who live in Manila North Cemetery have carved out an intriguing existence alongside the dead. Ironically, death is their lifeblood and provides livelihoods for masons, gravekeepers, flower sellers, and even restauranteurs. Amongst two-story mausoleums and marble angels, amidst funeral processions and exhumations, they have created a community with all the soul of any small village. But even though many families have called the graveyard home for generations, their way of life is being threatened. Thieves and drug dealers beget violence, while city officials demolish homes in an effort to evict the residents. Will the community survive against modern forces, or is this the death of a cemetery?
