A woman hands a bride-to-be a white bed sheet, and instructs her to lay it on her bridal bed and return it the next day with the "proof of her chastity" upon it.

In a flashback sequence, refugees are seen fleeing through the hillside while missles explode around them. No one is seen being killed.

A man is found hanging by a sheet around his neck off a public building. A screwdriver has been lodged into his chest, holding a note of warning to others. Some blood is shown around the entry wound.

The scene mentioned in the "Violence" section happens quickly and unexpectedly, and may be unsettling for some viewers.

A young girl is kidnapped by men hired by the Taliban. She is found a few minutes later by soldiers. She has some cuts on her face, but is otherwise safe.

Another girl is kidnapped and forced to wear a bomb vest into a cafe. A young boy sees a Talib man flipping open a cell phone to activate the girl's bomb vest. The boy runs his bike into the man, knocking the phone out of his hand. People in the cafe help the girl remove her bomb vest and deactivate it.

Throughout the movie, there is a constant threat of possible violence from the Taliban.
