Miska Lieb lost his parents early, and his relatives sent him to learn the trade of carpenter. Thanks to his unfolding talent for drawing, the paintbrush soon replaced the chisel, and he became the best-known Hungarian painter of all times under the alias of Mihaly Munkacsy.
