Imagining Mina (2011)

A multi-layered historical documentary about social and racial attitudes in South America, the manipulation of the media, and the politics of the boxing business, as experienced by the Afro-Peruvian boxing icon Mauro Mina Baylón in the mid-twentieth century. This extensively researched feature-length film includes rare archival material, new footage shot in Peru and the U.S., and candid first-hand accounts, as it brings to life a forgotten chapter of the history of Peru and the African Diaspora.
