Cutting Loose (2010)

John Caputo (the director's nephew) is a car thief who quickly becomes a feared "scrapper" spending years in the hole. Ending up in a max security facility known for its revolving door, the Asian American transforms himself into an award-winning artist and talented barber, gaining the respect of inmates. But after 11 years of being institutionalized, he must control his violent patterns and face another fight - the fear of being free. Once out, it's an ongoing struggle against crushing odds that he'll go back to prison.
