Love Suicides (2007)

'Love Suicides' is a silent film in three acts recounting the tale of Kume and Osan, illicit lovers who are condemned by traditional society. Journeying from Kume's mountaintop monastery to a sacred temple ruins, the lovers encounter demon attacks, jealous suitors, murderous soldiers, and singing dreams as they are propelled towards their ultimate fate. Based on the classic Japanese bunraku play 'Love Suicides at the Women's Temple' by Chikamatsu Monzaemon.
