Most of the characters drink, smoke, or are seen to be drunk throughout the movie. One scene shows a young man buying pills in a cafe.

This film contains several scenes of mob violence, and, while it is light on gore and blood, the atmosphere is still very uneasy. The anti-hero's behaviour is quietly volatile and paranoid, making the audience uncertain of his reactions, and creating both tension and anxiety. Suicide is hinted at a few times, and several characters threaten each other; there are very few true allies amongst them, and no real heroes throughout the film. The general ambiance of the movie is eerie uncertainty.
