The Sporting Irish (1939)

This short opens with shots of rural Ireland (circa 1939-40)and the sight of the ancient game of street bowling, with the two contestants bowling through the village street, out into a country lane, and into an adjoining town. Then it cuts to the Irish jumpers and the crack cavalry horses in their high jumps. The climax covers the National Championship of Hurling at Croke Park before 75,000 spectators.
