You Do the Crime You Do the Time (1978)

During the 1970's, Martine Barrat, a well known French photographer and filmmaker worked with street gangs and the members' families in the South Bronx to produce this video which was shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art and other video art and independent film venues bringing to the public stories told by the otherwise unheard voices of the ghetto. This documentary won an award for best documentary from Italian television.
