Despite the high hopes and good intentions of international envirnomental groups to help Belize protect is pristine rain forests, three projects in three different regions of the Central American country show how complex conservation issues can be when they collide with subsistence poverty. From the Howler Monkey Sanctuary northeast of Belize City to the rugged mountain rain forests along the Guatemalan Border, the film documents how even the most well-conceived and astute strategies for bringing economic growth through protecting the rain forest can be threatened by unpredictable human nature.
