There is drug use on the part of the mother portrayed as "medicine." The children come home from school and find her passed out.

All the teen children smoke openly, even on school property, and alcohol is drunk on occasion. In addition adult characters smoke and drink alcohol regularly.

A 16-year-old girl is beaten and tortured throughout the entire film. She is whipped, burned with cigarettes, branded, kicked, and punched. Many of the children from the neighborhood regularly show up at the house to abuse the girl.

In one disturbing scene, the mother of the household forces the young lady to insert a Coke bottle into her vagina. While we don't see the actual contact, we see everything leading up to it, and her facial reactions.

We also see a terrifying scene involving a woman etching a message on the girl's abdomen. Screaming is heard throughout.

The outcome of the film will be very distressing to some people.

Viewers may find the events portrayed here more disturbing due the fact that they were closely based on a series of real life crimes.
