There is no on-screen violence, most of it is only described or mildly shown.

-Some historical images of bombings, violent riots and places burning. However, no blood or dead bodies are shown during these sequences.

-One scene shows several dead bodies lying on a street with no blood or injuries shown. It's later described by the main character, that they were mostly children who were caught stealing.

-Several character's deaths are implied, but not shown or described. There are brief descriptions of people being killed on concentration camps, including children, however they're not detailed.

-Two main characters die: one gets shot to death inside a church and the other is sent to a concentration camp. Altought the deaths are not shown, this scenes can be emotional to some.

-The ending is sad, as Nina and her brother discover that after the war there's nothing left of what they've known.
