There was no sex or nudity in this movie. In one scene the leading male and female hold hands and kiss, and then the film picks up later that day.

Several scenes take place inside a mental hospital where there is fighting. However there is no blood or gore at all. The father of the main character hanged himself, but all you ever see is the feet.

Nick Nolte's character, being manic depressive with suicidal tendencies, takes prescribed drugs for his condition, and when those drugs are taken away, he hangs himself. His son later takes sleeping pills, and the widow drinks excessively, but is never shown more than a bit tipsy.

Scenes of the events leading to the father's suicide are shown, but little about it is actually frightening.
