In July 2003, an exhibition featuring the work of the world's leading conceptual artists opened in Somerset House on London's Strand. Damien Hirst, Paul McCarthy and the Chapman Brothers were among those who had designed their own chess sets, continuing a fascination with the form that had also inspired Marcel Duchamp, Yoko Ono and Faberge. The film shows how the game has challenged some of the sharpest minds in the world and driven its champions to obsession and insanity. Using archive of Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky, the film also showed how the worlds of art and chess and driven by the same thing -namely money and power.
