Der Mann, der sich verkauft (1925)

The actress Marion de L'Orme visits the racetrack alongside the industrial magnate Jan Bracca, where the crowd awaits the main race with the favorite Maximum in feverish anticipation. The precious animal belongs to Achim von Wehrstädt, who was once in a relationship with Marion. It is a disaster for von Wehrstädt when his horse loses the race because he had bet all his money on winning. When Achim meets Marion, she makes him a strange suggestion. Since she would like to be a wife instead of a lover for a change, but Bracca is married, Achim is supposed to give him a reason for a divorce, since Jan's wife Daisy would not voluntarily agree to a separation.
