Sinners (2002)

In 1963 Ireland, 17-year-old orphan Anne Marie is raped by her cousin and becomes pregnant. Her aunt and their priest hustle her off to a Magdalene Home, where she is immediately renamed Theresa. In the Home she finds other young women who have broken the ultra-strict rules of Catholic Ireland in similar ways. Each woman suffers unspeakable cruelty and violence from the Mother Superior, despite her gentle-faced appearance and outwardly soft-spoken demeanor.
