A boy in pajamas is brought into a room where a group of men are drinking liquor. He sits on the lap of a man and a scream is heard outside the building afterwards. Gang rape is implied.

During the libel jury trial, men who were childhood residents of the boys' home testify and answer questions about their sexual abuse. It is also mentioned they were forced to perform fellatio as well as being anally raped.

Naked man and woman lay together in the woman's bed after implied sex. No explicit nudity.

The boys' abuse is implied but a brief flashback shows shows a male staff member raping a child in the man's bedroom without any nudity. At another time, the boy's face is shown during his first assault. After, he is shown naked lying on the man's bed without explicit nudity.

A man is shown hanging, having committed suicide. A boyfriend brutally beats his girlfriend while drunk. He is seen destroying a room in a rage, frightening some children. He comes home drunk during Christmas, comes after his mother with a knife, and ends up punching his girlfriend, knocking her out.

Brawls were shown in the dining room of the boy's home. A boy grinds his forehead into broken glass on the floor. A boy's arm is tattooed but interrupted; a bully takes some sandpaper and removes the tattoo, even though obviously very painful. A boy from the home is shown driving his motorcycle at speed into a brick wall, committing suicide; bloody face is seen. A boy's face is seen during his first sexual assault, and bloody tissue is flushed down a toilet.

Protagonist is a regular smoker. He is also seen to abuse alcohol and get very drunk.

The scenes of repeated sexual abuse and rape of young boys by adults are not explicit but are intense. The suicide by motorcycle is unpleasant. Physical abuse and outbursts of rage are unsettling. The final scene, however, is very upsetting and sad.
