There is some innuendo relating to Gene never having been into space, being referred to as a "space cherry".

Gene is portrayed as womanizing; we see him place his hand on women's rear ends/talk to them in a seductive matter, as well as sometimes sharing the same bed with sex the night before being implied.

The episode "Hot Springs Planet Tenrei" includes three shots of nudity on women; full-frontal, partial, and rear end shot; however, it is in the context of Japanese hot springs which are perfectly normal there.

Fred Luo is homosexual and repeatedly makes advances at Gene, blowing in his ear, flirting with him, and asking him to sleep in his bed. (It doesn't happen, though.)
