A Deep, Deep Place (1985)

Detective Lee hauls in ex-con Ji-shik on the hunch that he had something to do with a jewelry robbery. However, he has no evidence and is forced to let Ji-shik go free. Ji-shik, however, is no sooner out of sight of the police station when he begins planning his next crime so he can pay for his wife's surgery.
