Under the Same Roof. Few are the places in which different social classes come together, and rarely the poor and rich live under the same roof with the exception perhaps of maids and their employers. Under the Same Roof portrays this particular form of cohabitation. The maid is a witness and often an accomplice in the private life of her employee. But on the other hand, the employer knows little about her. The maid is not only a professional cleaner, but is also a confidante, nanny, topic of discussion among the women whose lives seem to depend enormously on her, the first sexual experience of the employer's children, and even ... a maid.
