The shortage of rural physicians after WWII was met with an ahead of its time program that sent fourth year medical students to rural areas to learn the practice of medicine from existing doctors. This served the dual purpose of getting help to the doctors, and encouraging soon to be physicians to practice rurally. After 50+ years the program continues and thousands of doctors have participated. This documentary tells the story of some of them.
