Filhos e Amantes (1982)

In a country house in Itatiaia, Rio de Janeiro State, Silvia and Roberto arrive to visit friends Marta and Bebel. The two girls had moved there in search of a hippie-alternative way of life. Next door is Claudio, a writer with terminal cancer, in the company of his girlfriend, Ruth. Silvia hides from her boyfriend the fact that she is pregnant. That long weekend, she intends to reflect on what she wants and seeks support, since in the past Marta had had an abortion. Bebel does not like their presence in their refuge. She likes it even less when Dinho, Marta's ex-boyfriend, and hysterical Carminha, her new girlfriend, arrive, as she notices that her partner still has a certain interest in Dinho. A heavy drug addiction ends up leading Carminha to an overdose. Roberto is also strongly attracted to Marta, so that, like Bebel, he does not welcome the presence of Dinho. One day when they find themselves alone, Marta and Roberto have an affair, as does Sílvia and Dinho, while Carminha, returning from the hospital after treatment, attempts suicide.
