Sister Faustina is almost seventy years old and very ill. She has spent her life in an orphanage caring for poor girls who are victims of misery or the wickedness of men, she has given them back, something much more important than material help, the meaning of life, the sacredness of the human person, and she has done it with a simplicity and enthusiasm that have touched forever all those who have been touched by her. But Sister Faustina's human story comes to an end. By a curious coincidence of life, the proximity of her birthday seems to coincide more and more with the day of her death. Sister Esperanta, a young woman of 35 who has recently taken charge of the orphanage, is the material, organizational and spiritual soul that permeates the entire institute with unceasing and passionate activity. Although she fears for the health of her elderly Faustina, she wants to organize a small celebration. That same day, four young women arrived at the institute who, as children, were taken in and educated in the institute under the affection and guidance of Sister Faustina, with whom a deep filial relationship was established. The paths taken by each of them are as different as their personalities.
