Life in the village has always been hard for the good-hearted countryman, Thimios Touloumotirs, especially now that he is without a job. And, on top of that, his young and beautiful compatriot, Maro, does not reciprocate his deeper feelings for her. Under those circumstances, a new life in bustling Athens as a police cadet is a step in the right direction. However, even in the big city, things are far from perfect. Before long, Thimios will lose yet another job and have a brush with the law; nevertheless, the little lottery ticket in his hand could be the solution to his chronic problems. Will now Maro change her mind?
