In the melodrama Hornankoski (1949), directed by Teuvo Tulio and Roland af Hällström, the boys Aarne and Artturi of the Yli-Koskela farm fall in love with their neighbor Lea. The old landlady, who has an iron grip on the Koski farm, opposes the mantal meeting's plans to sell the rapids to build a power station. Lea's enlistment to work on the farm sets off dramatic situations and turbulent emotions involving hate and love, lies, and betrayal.
