There are several scenes of the boys being subject to corporal punishment - spanking or caning (offscreen, only the shouts of pain are heard) or threatened with the same.

Three boys punish another for telling on them, by tying him to a tree, lighting a fire next to his feet, putting a pot on his head and beating on it with sticks.

The gendarmes fire several shots while pursuing criminals.

A body of one of the criminals is found, who had been stabbed to death by another.

A boy steals a bottle of wine. Later, the three boys have been drinking (the drinking itself is not seen), one of them is clearly intoxicated and the other two are asleep.
