In 1983 Paris. Etienne Mercier, a young hemophiliac who has been able to return to normal life since being regularly transfused with a plasma-derived product called "factor VIII", falls in love with Lise Bressian, whose mother, Martine, is doing research in a blood processing and distribution center.
