Nesbitt Spoon, who's a bit of a nebbish, tells us about his day, which is fairly average up until the moment that his doctor tells him he has only five minutes left to live. Spoon runs through a series of states of mind: dismissive, angry, offering to negotiate, pleading, despairing, suicidal, regretful, self-pitying, and accepting. The doctor stays low-key and sympathetic, occasionally announcing the time Spoon has left. With 30 seconds left to live, Spoon makes an extraordinary decision.
